The Iowa volleyball team lost in three sets to Michigan on Friday at Cliff Keen Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Hawkeyes (8-8, 0-5 Big Ten) fell to the Wolverines (7-8, 2-3) 15-25, 27-29, 19-25.
Michigan had 43 total kills and 11 blocks to Iowa’s 37 and three.
Lauren Brobst led the Hawkeyes in kills with 15, followed by Mikaela Gunderson with six. Kaylee Smith had a team-leading 33 assists. Julianne Blomberg led in digs with nine. Alli O’Deen and Michelle Fugarino each added eight digs.
Iowa has lost six matches in a row.
“We’re out here on the road in a more hostile environment with a good crowd, and our group did not respond to the opening pressure with intensity,” Iowa coach Bond Shymansky said. “Then in the second set we had them at set point and that’s the time we need to close a team out, especially on the road. In the third set, we were in it. Then we went flat.”
