ASU football coach Kenny Dillingham's 2023 transfer class is an impressive one.

Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham made the transfer portal a priority after his hire.

It paid off in a big way in the 2023 class.

Dillingham's 2023 transfer portal haul was recently ranked No. 2 in the nation by Rivals, only behind Colorado.

Of ASU's class, Adam Gorney and Adam Friedman wrote: "Maybe more than any other program with a first-year coach, Arizona State has shown just how much recruiting has changed by mainly focusing on the transfer portal, while also filling out its class within the high school ranks. The portal has brought in former Notre Dame QB Drew Pyne, many other standouts on both sides of the ball, and should provide an immediate spark for coach Kenny Dillingham and his staff. In another sign of just how convoluted the recruiting process has become balancing high school and now the portal, Arizona State added a major piece that only a couple weeks ago would have been completely unexpected as four-star QB Jaden Rashada, who decided against signing with Florida, opted to commit to the Sun Devils."

Mississippi was No. 3 in Rivals' list, followed by SMU. LSU was fifth, with USC sixth and Florida State seventh.

Auburn, Oklahoma and UCLA rounded out the Top 10.

ASU added 25 Division I transfers in its 2023 class, including former Notre Dame QB Drew Pyne and former BYU QB Jacob Conover, setting up a very interesting quarterback battle with returner Trenton Bourguet and Jaden Rashada, a highly-touted high school prospect who also signed with the Sun Devils.

'Huge recruiting win' for ASU:Jaden Rashada Arizona State football commitment reaction

A couple of other sites weren't quite as high on the Sun Devils in their transfer portal rankings., which at one point had ASU ranked No. 1 in its transfer portal ranking, had Arizona State's 2023 transfer No. 12 according to its methodology.

247 Sports had Arizona State at No. 10 in its transfer rankings.

Still, No. 10 or No. 12 out of all Football Bowl Subdivision teams isn't anything to scoff at.
