Iowa Tennis: Silverstein advances to semifinals

Iowa freshman Josh Silverstein won two matches on Sunday to advance to the semifinals at the Big Ten Indoor Singles/Doubles Championships at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

Silverstein, who entered the tournament as the 11th seed, defeated Ruben Weber 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the round of 16 and downed Michigan State’s John Patrick Mullane 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Junior Dominic Patrick defeated Gijs Linders of Michigan State in the round of 16 before falling to Minnesota’s Felix Corwin in the quarterfinals.
