IOWA CITY, Ia. – Aaron White's big week has continued, with the announcement that the Iowa basketball star is going to become a father.

White tweeted Tuesday morning that his longtime girlfriend, Grace Burns, is expecting their first child in August. He and Burns, a former Iowa volleyball player, found out on Dec. 26 that "Baby White" (as he called him/her) was on its way.

"It's something we're really excited to share," White said Tuesday. "Obviously, I've been excited to share it with my family and close friends. I felt it was right to just announce it. We're both really excited. So far the support has been great.

"It's a great time in my life right now."

White is on quite a run. He has led Iowa to a six-game winning streak, the best in the program in Big Ten Conference play in 28 seasons, by averaging 21.2 points and 9.2 rebounds in that span. He's moved into No. 2 on Iowa's all-time scoring list with 1,793 points and No. 3 in rebounds with 881.

And on Monday, he learned that he was one of five players to make the all-Big Ten first team.

"I'm not huge on personal goals or accolades, but that's definitely something I had my eyes set on — to prove myself as one of the best players in the conference," White said Tuesday. "To have the media and the coaches put me on the team is big for me."
