IOWA CITY – Iowa's fifth basketball recruit in the Class of 2015 has put pen to paper, officially signing with the Hawkeyes.
Christian Williams, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound guard from Decatur, Ill., scored 1,587 points during his career at St. Teresa High School and led his team to four 20-win seasons.
"We are thrilled that Christian is part of our Hawkeye family," Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said Wednesday in a statement. "Christian is an incredibly versatile player who can play three positions. He's a terrific athlete with great length. He's a phenomenal passer and a proven winner. Christian fits very well with our style."
Williams averaged 18.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.3 steals a game as a senior. He committed to Iowa in March.
There's been a theme to McCaffery's sixth recruiting class: mid-sized athleticism. All five signees range between 6-5 and 6-7.
Iowa has one more scholarship to give in this class. That could end up going to 6-8, 220-pound forward Dale Jones, who averaged 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds at Tyler (Texas) Junior College last season.
