The Iowa men's basketball team will open its first 20-game Big Ten Conference schedule with a big challenge: hosting rival Wisconsin on Nov. 30 and traveling to perennial power Michigan State on Dec. 3.

The league revealed the schedule Tuesday, with each team getting 10 home and 10 away games for the first time.

Iowa also faces a stiff test at the end of the schedule, with back-to-back road games against border rivals Wisconsin (March 7) and Nebraska (March 10).

Iowa men's basketball fans will get 10 Big Ten Conference games at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season, beginning with Wisconsin on Nov. 30 and ending with Rutgers on March 2.

Eight of Iowa's 10 home conference games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.

The Hawkeyes finished 4-14 in Big Ten play last season and 14-19 overall. It was a disappointing result, but the team returns all of its starters and adds in-state four-star recruit Joe Wieskamp this winter.

Last year, the Big Ten introduce a pair of early December contests because its end-of-season tournament was a week earlier at Madison Square Garden. That left Iowa with a difficult stretch in which it played at Virginia Tech, at home vs. Penn State, at Indiana and at Iowa State in a span of 10 days. The Hawkeyes lost all four of those.

This season features a similar gauntlet of major-conference opponents, starting with a home game vs. Pitt on Nov. 27, then the Wisconsin and Michigan State games, concluding with a home matchup with the Cyclones on Dec. 6.

Men's basketball season tickets can be purchased at the ticket office at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, over the phone at 1-800-IA-HAWKS, or online at
