Iowa Hawkeyes handle Hampton, 84-51

IOWA CITY, Ia. — The Hampton Pirates completed phase two of their buzzsaw nonconference schedule Sunday afternoon against the Hawkeyes. On Friday they lost to Northwestern. Next Wednesday they travel to North Carolina State and on Nov. 20 they travel to No. 3 South Carolina.
Yowza.
Iowa dispatched the Pirates 84-51 in phase two. It led for 35:23 and controlled the game wire to wire.
How the game was won: Iowa held Hampton scoreless for the final 3:41 of the third quarter and the first 5:12 of the fourth. Meanwhile, it scored 18 to take a commanding 73-46 lead into the game's final five minutes. You could've said the game was over at halftime, when Iowa led 44-32, but it was definitely over at the five-minute mark.
Ally Disterhoft led the first platoon with 16 points, and Hannah Stewart paced the second platoon with 10.
Key stat: The Hawkeyes held Hampton to 24 percent shooting from the field (18-for-74).
