Iowa reeled in another football commitment Thursday morning when Indiana prep running back Toks Akinribade announced on Twitter that he plans to play for the Hawkeyes.
The three-star athlete, ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 4 player in Indiana, picked Iowa over scholarship offers from at least a dozen other schools, including Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, Boston College and Cincinnati.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back reportedly ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the Best of the Midwest Combine. Akinribade rushed for 1,579 yards and 15 touchdowns last year for Brownsburg High School, where he plays on the same team as Hunter Johnson (highlights below), one of the top quarterbacks nationally in the 2017 class. Johnson also holds an offer from the Hawkeyes.
Akinribade is believed to be the 10th player to commit to Iowa's 2016 class and the third running back. The Hawkeyes also snagged commitments from Wisconsin back Toren Young and Illinois prospect Barrington Wade, who could move to linebacker.
