Iowa wide receiver Derrick Willies pulls in a pass in the end zone during the Hawkeyes' game against Ball State at Kinnick Stadium earlier this season. According to an Instagram credited to Willies, the freshman wide receiver is apparently leaving the Hawkeyes' football team.

An Instagram post Monday night from an account credited to receiver Derrick Willies has sent Hawkeye fans in a tither.

According to the message, it appears the speedy receiver has left the Iowa football team.

Willies, a redshirt freshman from Rock Island, Ill., was a star during spring practices and caught four passes this season for 71 yards and a touchdown in five games played.

Steve Roe, Iowa's director of athletic communications, said Monday night that coach Kirk Ferentz will address any roster updates Tuesday in his regular news conference.

Willies was not listed on the Hawkeye depth chart released earlier Monday.
