FOOTBALL: Former Dowling Catholic quarterback and Iowa signee Ryan Boyle threw a pair of touchdown passes to highlight Team USA's 35-0 victory over Canada at the International Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

Boyle finished 10-for-21 passing for 97 yards, with the pair of touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had five carries for 33 rushing yards.

Boyle scrambled before throwing his first touchdown, a 16-yard strike in the end zone to Baylor-bound Devontre Stricklin, to open the scoring. The second TD came on a 28-yard toss to Tyler Petite in the fourth quarter.

Defensive back Prentice McKinney was the MVP of the game. The Oklahoma signee had two interceptions and returned one 80 yards for a touchdown.

SOFTBALL: Iowa's Shayla Starkenburg became the seventh Hawkeye pitcher to throw a no-hitter with Saturday's 2-0 blanking of Southern Utah at the UNI-Dome.

Allie Wood and Erin Erickson had first-inning RBIs for Iowa (2-2) to support Starkenburg in the first of two games on the day. Iowa lost 9-1 in Game to North Dakota State in five innings.

Starkenburg had eight strikeouts against three walks in the no-hit performance against the Thunderbirds. It's the redshirt sophomore's first career no-hitter and the first for the Hawkeyes since Amanda Zust accomplished the feat in March 2010.
