Iowa cornerback Desmond King was named to Sports Illustrated's 2016 Preseason All-America team Monday.

"Maybe the biggest surprise to return to school, King won the Jim Thorpe Award last year and finished his junior season with eight interceptions," the publication wrote.

King is the lone Hawkeye to receive the honor, but he's far from the only player out of the Big Ten to make the list. Michigan tight end Jake Butt, Indiana guard Dan Feeney, Ohio State center Pat Elflein, Michigan State defensive lineman Malik McDowell, Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers, Ohio State linebacker Raekwon McMillan, and Michigan cornerback Jourdan Lewis also earned a call-out.
