Iowa will meet Florida in Outback Bowl

IOWA CITY, Ia. -- The Iowa Hawkeyes -- and their fans -- are taking a familiar winter getaway.

The No. 25 Iowa football team will appear in its fifth Outback Bowl on Jan. 2 in Tampa, Fla.

The Hawkeyes will face No. 18 Florida of the Southeastern Conference. Both teams are 8-4. Kickoff is at noon and the game will be televised on ABC

Members of the University of Iowa marching band perform on the beach the last time the Hawkeyes played in the Outback Bowl three years ago. Iowa lost to LSU 21-14 in that game.

Iowa has previously appeared in the 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2014 Outback Bowls, winning twice and losing twice.

The Hawkeyes earned the bid over Nebraska after demolishing the No. 21 Cornhuskers 40-10 on Nov. 25 in the regular-season finale.

It will be the 14th trip to a bowl game in Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz's 18-year tenure, and the 10th time the Hawkeyes will be playing in January.

Iowa hasn't won a bowl game since defeating Missouri in the 2010 Insight Bowl.

Iowa has posted a 6-7 bowl record under Ferentz, including wins in four January bowl games.
