Country singer Pat Green will perform at halftime of Iowa-UNI game

Country musician Pat Green will perform his hit song "Wave on Wave" during halftime of the Iowa-Northern Iowa football game Sept. 15.

The Texan will be joined by the Hawkeye and Panther marching bands for the performance near the south end zone. "Wave on Wave" has become the anthem for the traditional first-quarter wave to children on the top floor of the Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Green is a three-time Grammy nominee who has sold more than two million albums over the past two decades.

“It is an incredible honor to be part of an endeavor where the sole purpose is to enrich children’s lives and make them smile,” Green said in a University of Iowa news release.

The marching bands will have a traditional performance of one song before they join Green in “Wave on Wave.” Green will then perform from the stands with 50 members of each band. The remaining Hawkeye and Panther band members will create images on the field for the children to view during the performance.

Kickoff of the Iowa-UNI game is scheduled for 6;30 p.m.
