GREEN BAY — A day after extending the contract of defensive lineman Dean Lowry, the Green Bay Packers are releasing veteran defensive lineman Mike Daniels, according to multiple reports.

The Packers reportedly failed in efforts to trade Daniels, who was due to earn $8.5 million in salary and bonuses this season. 

Daniels, an Iowa football product, was entering the final year of a four-year, $42 million contract extension signed in 2015 and the Packers were likely going to move on from him next year.
