Sophomore Carson Schaake tied for medalist honors and led Iowa to a runner-up finish at the Big Ten Golf Championships Sunday at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind. It was the Hawkeyes' best team finish since they won the title in Iowa City in 1992.

Schaake tied with Nick Hardy of Illinois at 4-under-par 284. There was no playoff, and both players were declared co-medalists. Schaake had rounds of 65-70-76-73. The Hawkeyes posted the best final round of the tournament, a 4-over-par 292, to pass Minnesota and finish as the runner-up to fourth-ranked Illinois. The Illini won by 32 shots. They picked up 29 of those 32 strokes in Saturday's third round.

A pair of seniors, Ian Vandersee and Brian Bullington, also finished in the top 20 individually for Iowa. Vandersee tied for 11th at 293. Bullington tied for 13th at 294.
