Iowa junior gymnast Mollie Drenth qualified as an individual for the NCAA Championships following a sterling all-around performance Saturday at a regional meet at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Drenth’s four-event score of 39.450, bolstered by scores of 9.9 on the uneven bars and balance beam, was the top total on a team that did not finish in the top two at the meet. Arkansas’ Amanda Wellick (39.350) was the other individual qualifier.
Oklahoma (197.575) and Nebraska (196.550) garnered the team invitations, with Arkansas (195.500) third and the Hawkeyes (195.450) in fourth.
The NCAA finals are on April 15-16 in Fort Worth, Texas.
