Iowa coach Fran McCaffery secured a commitment Tuesday from Muscatine's young basketball star Joe Wieskamp.

It appears others have been equally impressed with Wieskamp, who just finished his freshman year.
Wieskamp, a 6-foot-5 wing, is ranked No. 16 nationally in ESPN's initial Class of 2018 rankings that came out Thursday. ESPN has him as the second-best 2018 recruit in the Midwest, behind only forward Brandon Johns of East Lansing, Mich.
Wieskamp, the top-scoring freshman in Iowa last season, averaged 18.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in Class 4-A. He's projected to play on the wing in college.
