Iowa posts its second straight shutout

HAVRE, Mont. — The Iowa wrestling team recorded its second straight shutout Friday, defeating NAIA Montana State-Northern 51-0.

The No. 2 Hawkeyes got pins from Thomas Gilman (125), Cory Clark (133), Brandon Sorensen (149), Edwin Cooper Jr. (157), Sammy Brooks (184) and Sam Stoll (heavyweight).

Brody Grothus scored a major decision at 141 and Patrick Rhoads got a technical fall at 165.

The Hawkeyes moved to 16-0 on the year with the victory against a Northern Lights team that once had Iowa assistant coach Terry Brands on staff.

Up next for Iowa is the National Championships Dual Series, which it will host starting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 22.
