Iowa recruit Spencer Lee rolls through Junior World Team Trials
It took more than four hours of watching and waiting Saturday before Spencer Lee’s chance to compete arrived at the United World Wrestling Junior World Team Trials.
It took the prized Iowa recruit less than a couple minutes to capitalize on it.
Lee punctuated his return trip to the Junior World Championships with a pair of sub-minute, 10-0 technical fall victories against Colorado prep Mosha Schwartz in the 110.25-pound, best-of-three championship series in Irving, Texas.
The championship series win sets Lee up for an August trip to Macon, France, and an opportunity to accomplish more groundbreaking feats for USA Wrestling.
The consensus No. 1 overall college prospect in the 2017 became the first American to ever win Cadet and Junior World titles in consecutive years last year. Now, he’ll aim to become USA Wrestling’s first two-time Junior World champion.
