Iowa's new wrestling schedule is stacked in January
Three of Iowa wrestling’s biggest duals are scheduled to be inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season.
It’s up to Big Ten Network to set the dates.
The Hawkeyes released their 2016-17 slate on Wednesday afternoon, which includes a Dec. 10 showdown with Cy-Hawk rival Iowa State and a pair of flexible January home meetings with Big Ten rivals and the last two NCAA champions, Penn State and Ohio State.
The Nittany Lions will visit Iowa City on Jan. 20 or 22, depending on the TV schedule to be released next month. Ohio State would come a week later, either on Jan. 27 or 29.
Before those conference clashes is a Jan. 13 or 15 dual at Oklahoma State. The Hawkeyes will also host the Iowa City Duals (Nov. 18), Wisconsin (Feb. 3) and Nebraska (Feb. 12) before the postseason begins in March.
Coach Tom Brands returns five all-Americans to the lineup in Thomas Gilman (125 pounds), Cory Clark (133), Brandon Sorensen (149), Alex Meyer (174) and Sammy Brooks (184).
Season tickets are $75 and available at HawkeyeSports.com or by calling Iowa’s ticket office at 800-IA-HAWKS.
