Hawkeyes wrestling wins each match, rolls over Spartans

Hawk Central

Undefeated Iowa wrestling continued its impressive season with a 44-0 shellacking of Michigan State during a dual on Sunday.

Thomas Gilman (125 pounds) got the first of 10 wins for the Hawkeyes by pinning Logan Griffin (45 seconds). Cory Clark (133) and Topher Carton (141) followed with decision wins before Brandon Sorensen (149) beat Nicholas Trimble via technical fall.

Every other Iowa win came by decision or major decision besides Alex Meyer's and Sam Brooks' victories (174, 184 respectively), which were technical falls, and Sam Stoll's heavyweight triumph, which was earned through a disqualification after Michigan State's Jacob Cooper was repeatedly penalized for stalling.

The Hawkeyes will take the mat again 2 p.m. Sunday against Oklahoma State.

Iowa's Thomas Gilman holds down Iowa State's Markus Simmons at 125 pounds on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Gilman won 19-4.
