Hawkeye wrestling thumps Indiana for another Big Ten road win

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Iowa wrestling team’s Big Ten Conference road dual win streak is at 22 following Friday night’s 32-7 shellacking of Indiana at University Gymnasium.

The Hawkeyes won the first seven matches of the dual, starting with top-ranked Thomas Gilman’s second-period pin of Elijah Oliver at 125 pounds. Gilman now has a team-best nine falls on the season, and his 22-match win streak equals a career high.

Brandon Sorensen, ranked fourth at 149, earned a 19-3 technical fall for the Hawkeyes’ second bonus-point victory of the night, and No. 2 Michael Kemerer pinned Jake Danishek in 2 minutes, 26 seconds at 157.

Phillip Laux (133), Topher Carton (141), Joey Gunther (165), Alex Meyer (174), and Cash Wilcke (197) all won by decision.

Indiana’s two wins came at 184 and 285 pounds.

Iowa (11-2) closes the conference dual season at 2 p.m. Sunday against Nebraska for Senior Day at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
