Patricio Lugo is heading to the Hawkeyes.

Edinboro's Patricio Lugo, left, controls Penn State's Zain Retherford in a 149-pound weight class match during the second round of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, Thursday, March 17, 2016, in New York. Retherford pinned Lugo to win the match.

The former Edinboro wrestler and two-time NCAA qualifier announced he’s transferring to Iowa Tuesday via Twitter.

The Homestead, Fla., native will redshirt in 2017-18, then have two years of eligibility remaining.

“Iowa bound,” Lugo wrote.

A two-time NCAA qualifier at 149 pounds, Lugo went 63-18 in two seasons at Edinboro. He entered the NCAA tournament last season as the No. 8 seed.

As a freshman, Lugo was named the EWL and PSAC freshman of the year and was selected to Amateur Wrestling News’ all-rookie team, falling one win shy of All-American status.
