Northern Iowa wrestling releases 2019-20 schedule
The Northern Iowa wrestling program released its 2019-20 schedule this week, and it's loaded with talented programs from across the country.
The upcoming slate features 12 total duals — six at home, six away — and four regular-season tournaments: the Cyclone Open in November, as the December trio of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, the UNI Open and the Midlands Championships.
The home schedule is highlighted by matchups against Nebraska (Nov. 24), Missouri (Jan. 12) and Oklahoma State (Jan. 25), all of which placed in the top 10 at the 2019 NCAA Championships (UNI finished 13th). The Panthers also host Utah Valley (Jan. 4), South Dakota State (Jan. 10) and West Virginia (Feb. 14).
The road portion of the season is just as tough, featuring duals against Northwestern (Nov. 17), Oklahoma (Feb. 1), Iowa State (Feb. 16) and Wisconsin (Feb. 20). All four of those teams finished in the top 25 at last year's national tournament. The Panthers will also travel to Northern Colorado (Jan. 17) and Air Force (Jan. 19).
In March, Northern Iowa will head to the Big 12 Championships, set for March 7-8 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which leads into the NCAA Championships, scheduled for March 19-21 in Minneapolis.
