Wolverines' Jourdan Lewis, Jabrill Peppers make cut for Thorpe Award
Looking for a comparison for the versatile Jabrill Peppers a few weeks ago, Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh settled on legendary multisport athlete Jim Thorpe. Harbaugh said Peppers was "on the same dance floor."
Now they have more in common.
Peppers and teammate Jourdan Lewis are on the Thorpe Award semifinalist list, released today. The trophy is given to the nation's best defensive back.
Lewis might be the best cornerback in the country.
But Peppers is listed on U-M's roster as a linebacker and spends more time there than at safety, his primary spot last season.
Also on the Thorpe list is the 2015 winner, Detroit native and Iowa cornerback Desmond King.
