Last week’s state tournament is already in the rear-view mirror, but in many ways, it kicked off wrestling’s postseason here in Iowa.

There’s still another week of collegiate duals — Iowa State wrestles at Northern Iowa and then hosts Missouri, while the Hawkeyes travel to Oklahoma State — but March is only nine days away, and each weekend features another big postseason wrestling tournament.

On March 1-2, the NAIA National Championships are here in Des Moines, where Grand View is taking aim at an eighth straight national team title.

The week after, there’s more: the NCAA’s Division III national championships, in Roanoke, Virginia, and the Division II national tournament in Cleveland are both set for March 8-9. The Big Ten Championships are that weekend, too, on March 9-10.

There’s a week off following before wrestling’s crown jewel: the NCAA Division I National Championships, in Pittsburgh, set for March 21-23. All wrestling eyes will be glued to the action inside PPG Paints Arena that week for some of the best action we’ll see all year.

What I’m trying to say here is to buckle up. The state tournament is a big deal here in Iowa, of course, but in many ways, the postseason has only just begun.

Please give me a follow on Twitter, and I’ll keep you guys up to date on all things wrestling in Iowa. Thanks so much for your help here, and for reading.
