Norwalk point guard Bowen Born schedules his first summer visits
One of Iowa's top 2020 basketball prospects has scheduled his first official visits.
Norwalk point guard Bowen Born will officially visit Northern Iowa from June 7-9, he told the Register on Tuesday. He is also planning an official visit to Indiana State for the weekend of June 28-30.
In addition to those two officials, Born is in talks with Iowa and Creighton for unofficial visits in June. Both programs haven't offered, but they've shown interest for a while — especially Creighton.
Born plans to take an unofficial visit to Drake at some point, as well.
He is currently looking at a third official visit, too: Toledo, at some point in September.
The Register's No. 2 in-state 2020 prospect, Born holds offers from Drake, UNI, Indiana State, Toledo, South Dakota and Bowling Green, plus interest from Iowa, Creighton, Lehigh, South Dakota State, Boston College and several Ivy League programs.
Born enjoyed a phenomenal junior year, averaging 27.8 points and 3.8 assists per game to lead Norwalk to the Class 3A state title game. The lefty point guard has continued his excellent play into the spring recruiting season and is drawing high-major attention.
"Obviously, it’s not like I’m upset that these (high-major) schools aren’t offering," Born told the Register in May. "At the end of the day, it’s just about playing basketball. Do I think I’m a high-major player? Yeah. Do I think I can play with high-major schools? Yeah. That’s just my self-confidence. I feel like I can go anywhere and make an impact on any team in the country."
