Patrick Peterson adds to 'beef' with Kyler Murray after saying he doesn't have one
Minnesota Vikings defensive back Patrick Peterson told reporters on Thursday that he didn't have a "beef" with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray … and seemed to add to the feud with his former teammate in the process.
In speaking with the media, Peterson said, via ESPN: "I don't have any beef with Kyler Murray."
Peterson also said that he had not "disrespected" the quarterback, telling ESPN that comments he made about Murray earlier this week on his "All Things Covered" podcast were based on his observations of the QB's body language.
"What I meant by my comment was when you're a franchise quarterback you have to carry yourself a certain way," Peterson said, according to ESPN. "So if you're having bad body language, pouting, moping on the sideline, what type of energy do you think feeds off to your teammates?"
He continued: "That's what I meant about Kyler. He cares about himself because he's not putting the team first. When you make a bad throw, and you come off to the sideline, you're dropping your shoulders, how do you think the defense feels? If our starting quarterback don't have any energy, no fire, that we can win this game, how can we? That's what I meant about Kyler caring about Kyler. I didn't mean any disrespect, in any fashion or form. And I might not be his mentor, but these are the things, tips, that can help him be a better football player in the long run."
Peterson, who played with Murray in 2019 and 2020, added, according to ESPN: "Those mannerisms are alarming. I'm just saying something that most people may be afraid to tell him. It's no secret. Everybody sees it. You see it every time they're on television. You see Kyler Murray pouting. Cursing out the head coach, calling out the offensive scheme. I didn't say that. He did."

Peterson's comments Thursday were the latest in a long line of negative comments directed toward Murray and his former team.
On his podcast earlier this week, Peterson said of Murray: “This is the same guy that you all put in his contract you got to study for four hours a week. But the system messed up? They’re requiring you to study for 24 hours, but the system messed up?”
He added: "Kyler Murray don’t care about nobody but Kyler Murray. That’s just the matter of the fact."

Peterson told reporters Thursday that he did not have Murray's number, but that he recently go it through a former teammate and was awaiting a response from a message he had sent the quarterback.
It all sounds like a "beef" to me.
