Titans, Brett Kern agree to four-year contract extension
The longest-tenured member of the Titans is sticking in Nashville for the foreseeable future.
Kern, an 11-year veteran whom the Titans signed in 2009, has been selected for the Pro Bowl in each of the past two seasons. He signed an extension with the team in 2015 that was set to expire after the 2019 season.
Last season, Kern averaged 47.1 yards a punt, including a 41.7-yard net. He placed 39 punts down inside the 20 with only three touchbacks. His final 16 punts of the season all were pinned inside the 20.
In 2017, Kern led the NFL and set a franchise record in punting average (49.7) and net average (44.6), with 28 pinned down inside the 20 and only five touchbacks. The 49.7-yard average ranked eighth in NFL history and was the best of any player since 2012.
